a literature review

Abstract

This paper presents a literature review on the theme of Innovation Laboratories in the Public Sector,
defined as i-labs in this study, in order to understand their nature in Brazil and in the world and the main
characteristics of the existing models in Brazil. The bibliographic research was carried out in 2020. The
descriptors used were the expression “innovation lab” and “public sector”. The analysis of the 14 articles
according to the previously defined criteria demonstrated that this is an interest of researchers in several regions of the world, but a recent research topic and still little applied in Brazil. The need to develop studies on the evaluation of the results of innovation laboratories in the public sector was identified. The aspects found in this research may contribute to the construction of new studies relevant to the subject, especially in the Brazilian public sector.

Author Biographies

Leilane Daisy Almeida de Oliveira, Português

Master in Public Management from the University of Brasília (UnB), focused his experience on Innovation in the Public Sector. His previous experience was coordinating the Public Sector Innovation Laboratories (i-labs) of the National Education Development Fund (FNDE) and the public company Serviço Geológico do Brasil (SGB).

Jonilto Costa Sousa, Universidade de Brasília (UnB)

Master and Doctor in Business Administration from the University of Brasília (UnB), specializing in Organizational and Competitive Intelligence, from UnB. Associate professor at the University of Brasília on the Planaltina campus (FUP/UnB). He works at the frontline of research in the area of Innovation within the scope of public and private organizations.
