The implementation of a set of indicators to improve the management of the fleet of official vehicles of the Executive Power of the State of Minas Gerais

Abstract

This article presents the case study on the Project Fleet Management by Indicators (GFI), which developed a set of 26 fleet indicators on broad themes in order to guide the fleet management policy of the State of Minas Gerais. Based on the review of the theory on public policies and indicators, the project is analyzed, covering the implementation strategy and results, as well as the operation after its conclusion. This project is relevant as the official fleet, at the time of the project, was consisted of more than 23 thousand vehicles, corresponding to the highest expenditure on movable assets in the State's asset account. It is concluded that the presented initiative can lead to an effective reduction of expenses without the loss of service levels and contributes to the improvement of fleet management, being able to be replicated in other organizations.
